ROCKET LAUNCH - Weather Permitting

Posted on Mar 14 2018 - 11:11am

3, 2, 1….It’s Launch Time!!!

Saturday, March 17th at the North soccer field (next to tennis courts) at Westview High School. Because weather affects rocket flight, April 21st will be our backup date. We will make a go or no-go call at 7 pm on Friday or 7 am on the morning of the launch. Please check the Pack website for launch status.

We will begin launching at 8:00 am sharp and set-up is at 7:30 am. We are usually done, including cleaning up the field of debris from the launches, by about 9:30 am. Scouts will get to launch their rockets 3 times and siblings get two launches. Please come with a completed rocket. The Pack will supply what you need to make it ‘go’. We will also have breakfast pastries and juice.

If you haven't got a rocket, you can purchase one for about $15 from Michael’s (be sure to use their 30-50% off coupon on their website), Fred Meyers (toy department), Amazon, or Tammy’s Hobby shop. Some require assembly so you might want to get started early. Make sure your rocket takes size A or B engines. We do have some C’s but not many. We also advise cutting a small hole about the size of a quarter in the top of the parachute so they come down faster and don’t drift somewhere we can’t retrieve them.

AUDUBON & HIKE TO STONE HOUSE

Posted on Mar 8 2018 - 8:00pm

However, the hike on Sunday is still a go. Come out and see the birds being re-habilitated at the Audubon Wildlife Care Center and join us for a hike on the trails to the Stone House and possibly the Pittock Bird Sanctuary.  We will meet at 1:15 pm in front of the bird rehab building. It might be a little muddy so wear shoes that can get dirty.  Also, bring a water bottle and snack.  At least one parent needs to stay with each scout.  Siblings are welcome!  Please arrive on time so we don't accidentally leave anyone behind!!!
